Yeah, but 32% percent is better than the zero percent if we were not informed at all. Not only that but funding a campaign that isn't based around national security or defense of resources and getting congress to be actually interested can't be a cheap do. Furthermore, everytime we buy a lottery ticket, no where near of a third is given to the pot, and billions of us buy em every week.
Tbh, what this if anything shows us is that as a community of peeps behind screens, we can do stuff to change the world, just by being aware and giving a ****. Even if you don't donate, sending the link out to others will educate.
The look on the kids face when he had to say he watched his brother have his throat slit was enough for me to think it was a good cause. |

Her viewpoint is a very valid one, and her saying that it should be sorted in house without outside intervention would be ideal, but if we can help, I am not sure why we shouldn't.
Admittedly, the world is generally sceptical as to why the US takes interest as it rarely does anything without it being beneficial to them, but in this case...I think it has sparked outrage from all over the world, and ultimately the online world, when united can hopefully make a difference. =) |

Rich, the basic rundown is that Kony is a guy in Africa who steals children in the middle of the night, arms them, forces them to kill their parents and then sets them loose to terrorise whoever.
He's been doing it for the past 20 years and the rest of the world didn't know because those that did know didn't do anything about it. The guy that made the video works in Africa for some things, and he found out about it through a person he met. Disgusted with how things are, he started a campaign and made this video to raise awareness to Kony's crimes in hope that people will protest enough that the US will go over there and do something about it.

From what I've read over the years, that kinda thing has been pretty commonplace in the developing african nations. Whilst yeah its evil, and it would be great to see all people like that get what they deserve, I for one dont think america have anything to do with it, they aint the world police, no matter how many times they proclaim themselves to be.

You are bang on the money Rich, its been happening for years but I guess thats what the guy intended to do was raise awareness and us talking about it like this proves his success.
Allowing the US to be world police is even scarier than Kony as you will end up getting snatched from your bed legally if Team America take control, so I guess all we can really take from this at all is that if we do plan to unite against a issue, which we surely can do via the net, don't let an American lead the way lol. |
