I had a similar probem about a year ago. My gfx allofasudden decided it was too good for textures and stopped rendering at will, only when i needed to do stuff like not standing in fire. This was an old geforce and we found that it was messing itself up as a result of info going to hell due to overheating and a gfx software update drinking too much carosene.
Solution: i planted my size 43 in the side of the hightower while screaming "I DECIDE WHO LIVES OR DIES" And then called my local store and had them order a new gfxcard for me.
