hey guys,
due to my profession i tend to get important info before it is made too public.. im not sure how many of u are aware of this situation so dont kill me if u already know..
in the last 2 days my workplace has had over 200 laptops/desktops admitted due to the same virus.
It wipes absolutly everything.. leaves you with only a background tellin u how your lifes going to end (strange i know)
It is from people hacking into JAVA.. so if you download..install.. or update JAVA at the moment.. its extremely likely you will contract the virus and loose everythin on your computer..
So PLEASE... dont instal/update java in any way untill this is all sorted.. they are workin on it now but its a huge virus thats taken alot of work to produce.. so takin twice as long to remove..
Just a heads up.. i hope none of your are infected.. please relay this message to anyone you know.. this virus is costin alot of money to remove professionally.. and cant be removed by any1 other than a professional.. (apparently)
Thanks everyone =]

Thanks for the heads up!
I have had a virus through Java before so I am always on the lookout for that anyways, but good to know there is another one out there!

Do you have any sources claiming this outside your workplace? I have tried googling abit but havn't found anything... What is the name of the virus, how does it work/access a computer, where does it place itself?
I'm not saying your wrong, java is a very common language for many situations. I believe that the internet would be flooded with this information if it was true. Therefore I would rather assume that it has something to with your workplace than java in general tbh |

it is all on the hush hush atm.. ive known about the virus for about a week but java have insisted it isnt made public as they are sorting it.. as a workplace, it was decided that we should relay the message to anyone who wants to listen as its spreading fast.
I dont know the name of the virus.. it isnt my field to fix computers/ remove viruses etc.. but the part of my store that deals with the technical support and fix has informed us all of the virus.
As i stated in my post above.. over 200 units have been admitted by the public to my workplace to be removed/fixed in the last few days.. that shows it has nothin to do with my workplaces computers.. none of us have it.. we do not use java at work.. but it is the general public being hit by the virus.. it has been offically diagnosed by tech people all over to be due to java
I can only tell u what i know nesualk.. your choice if u choose not to trust the information.. but i posted this thread for those who want to know incase it is possible for them to get it.. not my fault that it isnt all over the internet.. im just tellin u guys what i know.. but feel free to instal or update your java =] |

I found some info about what it COULD be.
Seems like the issue stems from Korea...
Clicky
Zombie computers - such an awesome term tbh.
But the fact it was an attack on the Korean government might be why you have been encouraged to keep it hushed up at work, Kat.
